About the Stone

Lapis Lazuli is a rock rather than a single mineral — deep blue lazurite with white calcite and brassy flecks of pyrite. The finest has come from the same mines in Badakhshan, Afghanistan, for over 6,000 years, and ground lapis was once ultramarine, the most expensive pigment in the world.

Wearing & Care

Rings take more knocks than any other piece of jewelry: put it on last, after lotion and perfume, and take it off for hand-washing, housework, gardening, the gym, swimming and sleep. Sterling silver tarnishes slowly in air; a silver polishing cloth keeps it bright. Do not soak Lapis, and never use salt water: its calcite dissolves and its pyrite rusts. US sizes.
